My wife first said to me, “These sheets are so hard!” I felt the bed sheets and they didn’t feel any differently than they had felt the last few months we had been sleeping on them. “What are you talking about, it’s the same bedding!” I replied.
She then instructed me to get in the car, she was going to show me the bamboo sheets she had found at Red Mart. As I got into the car, I couldn’t help but think about how nice red bamboo sheets would match our new red bed pillows and brand new mattress we bought the weekend before. The mattress is the main reason that she noticed how much different our sheets were. On the old mattress you couldn’t tell, but on this new, softer mattress, the cotton bed sheets felt worn and rough.
As we got to the store, she took me back to the linen department to see the red bamboo bed sheets they had. The first set of sheets felt exactly the same as our current sheets. “These feel like our current sheets,” I said. My wife told me that was a test, they were regular 400 thread count cotton sheets. “Now feel these,” she said. As I picked up the second set of sheets, I told her they were silk, and to let me feel the bamboo sheets. She laughed and said, “Those are bamboo sheets!”
I grabbed the package and immediately realized that she was right! I wasn’t holding silk sheets, I was holding red bamboo sheets! We both laughed and then grabbed some silk sheets, which felt nearly identical to the red bamboo sheets we had just put into the shopping cart.
“When we get these home, I’m going to put them on the bed and take a nap!” I said laughing. “It will be the softest and best sleep you’ll ever get,” she told me.
